Apply for PSO Access |
 |
Phantasy Star Online for the GameCube is no longer hosted by Sega. In March of 2007, Sega terminated all GameCube servers world-wide. With Sega no longer supporting the game, we are now forced to use alternative methods for playing PSO online.
When Phantasy Star Online first launched on the Dreamcast, it wasn't long before it was overun by cheating. Users would duplicate rare in-game items and distribute them to unknowledgable players. So you had new low level characters running around with the strongest weapons and armor. A wide variety of codes were also used to hassle other players, and at the very worst, corrupt your entire PSO save forcing you to start over from scratch. It didn't help that Sega themselves added poor anti-cheat counter measures which ended up doing more harm to legitimate players than good. When the GameCube version was released, very little was done to prevent the numerious cheats and game hacks that plagued the Dreamcast version. Throughout the course of PSO's lifespan those who wanted to play the game legitimatly, were forced to hide from the main playerbase by joining empty lobbies and constantly passwording hosted game rooms.
Over the years, new server software was developed by members of the PSO community, allowing the game to be played online independently from Sega. This has allowed OnlineConsoles to run the first ever 100% legit (cheat free) server environment for Phantasy Star Online Episode 1&2. To maintain the integrity of our community, the servers and forums for PSO at OnlineConsoles require special access. New players must first meet the requirements and then apply for PSO Access.
How can I gain Access to play?
PSO Access must be granted to play & discuss the following games:
- (GC) Phantasy Star Online Episode 1&2
- (GC) Phantasy Star Online Episode 1&2 Plus
To apply you must meet the following OnlineConsoles.com community requirements:
- be a Legit PSO player
(no cheating / no duped items / no hacks / no server exploits)
- be a registered member for 6 months or more
- have been active at the site for the past 3 months or more
(includes playing games online and forum participation)
- have a minimum of 50+ posts
- able to keep information confidential
Our access requirements are designed to ensure that this community stays legit, and is protected from outside interferance by cheaters/griefers. Also, rather than letting a bunch of drifters in who will be here one week and gone the next, the activity requirements exist to build a solid foundation of longterm players. Our goal is quality over quantity. So our community will remain small, yet will continue to be active for many years to come.
What is the PSO experience like at OnlineConsoles?
OnlineConsoles.com is the only community known to maintain a 100% legit gameplay environment. Members can idle in LOBBY 01 without the fear of another player inducing an FSOD (Frozen Screen of Death). We can host unpassworded games without users crashing our games, and can freely trade with other members without worrying about illegally duplicated items. We aim to provide a fun place to play, which mirrors what Sega originally intended for the game, without the negative effects of cheating.
Members are required to dedicate a PSO character file to OC's servers. Your OC character cannot be taken onto other servers, and should only be played with OC members who have PSO access. If you have been playing your character online on other servers since the official server shutdown, you will be advised to create a brand new character. This is done to protect our community from illegally duplicated items you may have acquired elsewhere.
I need help getting PSO online to play on other servers. Why can't I post about this in your Support Area?
Due to PSO's sordid history with relation to cheating, we cannot willingly help someone gain access to a server that may support cheating. Please note that this is a very rare and special case with regards to PSO and it would not happen with any other game. We try our best to help any and all users get online with their consoles, but for PSO we have decided to restrict all discussions for PSO to our private community forums.
How active are the PSO servers at OC?
They are just as active as any other online game that OC covers. To play online usually requires posting in a special PSO specific game origanization forum to get peoples attention and schedule a time to play.
