Squeenix appear to have been on one of late. They did the same with the steam port of FF6. Lazy lazy lazy. | |||

I would imagine the GBA version would have a bit of a funky resolution.
The PS1 version must have been a port rather than an emulation of the game. I think that version was available on PS3 and maybe on PS4. Although - that would probably look a bit funny on a modern tv. Maybe there is no nice simple way to play it!  |

Looks like SE took the mobile version, slapped 2xSai on it, compiled, and called it a day. I'm sure it isn't a terrible way to play the game, but definitely a poor rendition that does the art absolutely no justice. It's also missing many of the features of the DS version according to the reviews, which is a real head scratcher.
As for FF6, there is a sound restoration hack out there for the GBA version. It also cleans up some of the framerate issues present in the original release. I haven't tried it myself, but it seems like a solid way to play the game. EDIT: After further reading, SE substantially updated the PC port after the outcry. It is, from my understanding, on par with the DS version when it comes to features and, overall, a decent version of the game. I still contend that it was a sloppy port, but it's good to see a company honoring a classic game. |
