Does anyone know if the Gamecube Keyboard Controller peripheral is usable on an American Gamecube? I read somewhere that it only works on Japanese imports, which would be a big letdown, but if not I think I will spend the money to buy one. Does anyone know?

I would assume that if it was like a normal controller it would work as they are usable on all consoles, however the keyboard may be different.

I do know that Datel made a gamecube keyboard that I am sure works on all consoles.

yeah. There's no reason that it shouldn't. Just plug it in slot 4 and go!

I have two GameCube keyboards. One is the controller variety that I imported from Japan, and the other is an adapter for a PS/2 (The computer port, not the console) keyboard. Both adapters work fine in my US-region 'Cube and my Japanese Q. Smile I've tried them in slots 2, 3 and 4 and it works in all of them. I guess I could try it in slot 1, but that's where PSO wants the controller, so I never really bothered with that.

Thought I'd pass this eBay link along for a new ASCII NGC keyboard controller with free shipping.

Considering that shipping alone on one of these bad boys is around $30 from Japan, this is a solid deal. Cool

The keyboard does look nice and it's the official keyboard too...but still a bit pricey. I wish I could find a good keyboard adapter from GC somewhere...most of the ones I've found are sold out everywhere especially in 2012.

When I play pso on servers I use Devolution on the Wii so I am able to just use a usb keyboard. I would much rather have that gamecube keyboard controller but I also have pretty huge fingers...

I feel you man... With my recent new pick ups I now have four broadbands for the GameCube and 3 copies of PSO.
