I started a FOnewearl, Pinkal, what is up with the difficulty level. I mean you get no techs except for Foi. Then a cane? Unbelievably hard. I died about 100 times. I had like no mesata and no mates or fluids it was rediculious. At Lv3 I had NOTHING on me except for a cane and a frame and my mag, which i hadn't fed it anything yet. The cane was doing 7 damage. I had to use Foi to get anything done, and spent amazing hours "waiting" for my TP to slowly revive itself. 2.5 hours just to make the char and get to Lv6.
I started forest, then halfway through had nothing left, and had to start it over again. I beat the Dragon at Lv5. And then after i beat him it lvled me to 6 upon his death. And what made it harder was i could find or afford a barrier until halfway through the second forest run. Those few lvls were the hardest lvls i have ever had to do in my entire PSO career. Seriously, i couldn't even use a Handgun and shoot from the parimeter. It was either, waste your TP with Foi, or use cane and get demolished in close combat. And this was all online. Took me 2.5 hours JUST to get to Lv6. |

I remember playing as a FO. It was a pain in the arse. I hear it gets better at about Lv. 40+

Yeah to start off it's very difficult. My fonewearl is now lvl 76 and totally kicks if I burn TP like a monkey. But if I have a ranger or hunter next to me I can let them do most of the work and refill my tp with geist mechs and stuff. With nearly lvl 30 s/d and j/z there is a huge difference. But.... as a fonewearl your ATP sucks hard man. Even in vhard with my lvl 76 and s/d j/z and my plaintan huge fan I do like 50dmg with normal attacks. I think it's around 70 if I use the rrr forgot what it was the saber blue force weapon thingy... Anyway, I never raised my ATP and used solely mst things and mind mags.
On a side note if you consume 175 mind materials at lvl 1 you can do nearly 200dmg with lvl 1 foie. Anyway, best thing to do is feed your mag mates. Raise his pow and start using a saber for soloing. When you get to hard or vhard you can easily find a hilde bear head and that makes a great weapon. Raises mind and def and it's special is a weird kind of foie. It does variing damage depeneding on how close you are to your enemy. The closer the more it does but it's kinda slow not as fast as foie. But if you don't twink your char it's gonna be a bear till you get to vhard. Unless you are playing online as support but first you need to find at least resta lvl 3 and some form of s/d, j/z. Also vhard is where you find the armor that actually sells for good price so you can pretty much burn trifluids and pay for them and make a tiny bit to bank |

It is horrifically difficult playing as a Force during the early part of your monster bashing, spell casting, Mag feeding carrer.
Honestly, I don't reccomend starting out a FO. Go with a Hunter, build that character up till level 100 or so (This is based off of experience on the Dreamcast version), and transfer useless (Read: FO only weapons, LOADS of Meseta and Mind Mats gallore) items to the Force. Also, map out how you want your Mag to grow. With my first FO, I was careless and invested more into POW than into any other section (Making up for weaknesses, right?). This was a double-edged sword. On one hand, I could fend for myself offline. But on the other, I crippled my MST, and was using lowly techs (I was just on the second wave of techniques by the time I beat Hard mode. Ouch. Take in to consideration that, at the time, I just got PSO for DC and started off with a HUcast). Having a farm of Mags can be invaluable (I.E: All POW MAG, All MIND MAG, etc). For those starting a Force character, try and aim for a well-rounded Mag. I can't argue with Nester's advice, either. Having back-up online is essential, unless you want to be eaten alive by enemies. -TheMytho |

i dont mean to sound this way but lvling my fo has always been easy. i love BOTH of my fo's. my fomar was my first and hes like 121 now. it may just be me but it seems like fo's lvl faster in general then other chars. it could just be me. i will admit it isnt a cake walk. but 2hrs to get past dragon? were you selling everything that droped? i had to do that for even my hunters at first.. i found it most difficult to defeat the bosses on ult. thats when trouble begins. unlocking the diff areas for the first time.

For me, it was having to get the concept of "Ok. I'm a spell-caster, not a melee badass" down. Running up to the Booma and getting knocked down suprised me. At the time, it was an odd feeling playing as a HUcast, then switching to a FOnewearl. I guess you could call me a HUFO (Force that acts like a Hunter).

ive never really had trouble with a Fo starting out but once you get higher lvls and techs it shouldn't be as harsh nikon. |

I have to agree Ring.
Once you have a decent party, and your a fairly high level (15-20), the fun begins! Hunter: "HEP ME PLZ! S/D + R!" Force: "Huh? Is this an Algebra class or something?" Just kidding... It really is a nice change of pace from bashing the stuffing out of baddies. Once I got to Lv. 20, I would quest with a high-level Hard team and make some easy experience with Jellen and Zalure. I was the personification of a leech. -TheMytho |

Ahhh I remember the days of fo's who's main char was a hunter.... In the DC we called them FoCast. I must admit it's very easy to try to do this and I was one of them but after you realize how vital a force is in a group and if you play with a focast you will be straightened out quickly. Anyway, just really wanted to put some old slang up heh. |
