I guess to finally phase out that bug from v1.0 they are closing down JP v1.0 servers in March of 2004. Don't freak out everyone. They basically just want everyone running on the v1.1 software.

heh, maybe we'll get 200 or so more JP players on Ver 1.1 then. That's about how many people were on Ver 1.0 last time i checked (Augest)

ok..
Back in September 12th, 2002 PSO EpI&II was released in Japan. 4 days after its released, the dupe bug was found. This was a very VERY easy method of duping, done using offline cmode. What Sega had done, was when the US version was released, seperated the servers from JP version andUS version. Now, for people that wanted to switch and play on the US servers, Sega made a fixed disk, called "Ver 1.1" (thats what I have now) and made it free for all users of Ver 1.0 to switch (if you lived in Japan). Most Japanese users switched, but a few did not. When Ver 1.1 was released, Sega took most of the Ver 1.0 servers and switched them over, thats why the JP ships are in the 60's. If there was never any ver 1.1 and there was no fixed disk and only the first disk (V.1.0) then the JP ships would start at 01 and go up. It seems Sega is finally killing the ver 1.0 ships, causing all 1.0 users to get PSO Plus or Ver 1.1. |
