| when playing mariokart on lan u need a router, but could i use a hub or a crossover cable instead to hook up the BBA's cause my friends were gonna do it with a plain old RJ45 cable that would plug a cable modem into a comp | ||||

You don't need a "router" necessarily. Any old hub should work fine. As a matter of fact, if you don't have a hub and only want to hook up two cubes, you could use a "crossover cable" instead.
A crossover cable is a special ethernet cable that looks just like a regular one, but it has a couple of wires crossed so that it can be used to directly connect two ethernet devices that would normally need a hub or router between them. If you're only using two devices, this can be the cheapest way to go. |
