I'm not looking to start a flaming contest here; I really want to know. I've been finding myself brooding over the possibility of getting into PSO lately, and I'm wondering why someone would choose one version over the other.
So far it looks like the Xbox version would be nicer because the system is a little more powerful so things should look nicer. On the other hand, it would appear that the GCN version has a bit more of a community around it and can be cheaper since it doesn't require the Xbox Live subscription - both require the $8.95 per month fee, if I understand correctly. (If only the two consoles connected to the same servers... oh well.) Am I totally off-base, am I missing a lot, or what? What can you all tell me about the pros/cons of getting it for one console over another? Please, I'm looking to keep this civilized, but honest. |

You cant play with people from other countries on xbox,
Iit costs more money to play online, and even costs (xbox live yearly subscription) to play offline on xbox, The amount and qaulity of hacking that takes place on xbox is horrendous. - u can do pretty much anything with a modded xbox. Ive hated voice chat from the first time I tried it on a PC and always will. - you can get a kb adapter, but ther is no lobby animations on xbox. There are actually more advanced graphical animations and effects that are on Gamecube but not on xbox (which makes absolutely no sense considering the xboxs "extreme" hardware}. - gc runnin progressive scan or s-video frankly blows the xbox away, which is quite sad really. The xbox has way less online content now, and the future is ...uh well.. how many people play psox....like 20, with no announcement for episode 3 - which is already gaining some attention as an awesome game and sequel to the series. if you have the xbox and not gc good luck waiting on a ep3 port, or in fact hanging out with all the people from ep3 in ep1 and 2 in the same lobbies, which will make the gc pso communtiy inevitably larger and stronger.. Japanese people hate the xbox, I like playing with japanese people, especially in cmode, of course its impossible on xbox to play with any other country,, but even if you could there would be like zero of my japanese or europen for that matter, friends to play with. The xbox controller sucks donkey kong dix, cheap(expensive) and the analog is GOD AWFUL on pso. If only the biggest button on the controller actually worked - the x jewl. I think sega released pso on xbox as kind of tease. If you really like pso, you eventually go to the gamecube either way just because the future is bleak for psox. What happens if xbox live goes down? It will sometime. How do we play pso offline then? Do we still need to pay xbox live fees if it doesnt exist? Are they going to release som worldwide code that unlocks the game? m$? I dont think so. Basically at some point you will have a game that is most likely unplayable because why? You can get a blue screen of death of the xbox. It has a harddrive, lan, etc Yet you cant even use it as computer.? why? Well unless you install linuxbox??????then you can suddenly run anything -(actually this is the one reason why I would want an xbox) Sonic team/sega doesnt even run/ownthe psox servers, so if at some point m$ sees it as unprofitable - goodbye. why? Sonic team themselves had said they perfer the gamecube and dont really like xbox( it was before sega started deveolping for m$ and i assume the money involved made the management make the sonic team shut up about disin the neon green giant.) xbox has no equivalient of a vmu or gba mini games. why? The xbox is loud, large, expensive and lacks style and effecientcy oh and also"video games" - i dont consider pc style games video games. And finally, why do anything to be cool? Personally i go out of way to not be cool ehn it comes to xbox cool. OMFG thats m$/xbox whole scam, all advertising and hjype. Like nintendos zelda commercial confirms, dude its a video game, not a genxbox, toughman competion, that shit is for nerds. Real gamers play games for fun. Its good to play together, but there are other options that are better for almost any game - even halo now haha - PC. Oh and i got like a million more reasons too, but i got to do homework now, again! |

Yea Nine pretty much summed it all up. The main reason why I play PSO on gamecube and not xbox is because right now the Game Cube is getting ALL of the new quest updates and new online content additions. Microsoft manages the psox servers so sonic team can't add the new files themselves. The microsoft employees have to install the updates. This is why most all new content on psox just never gets added. It really is a shame that psox gamers get such a raw deal.
I think the main features I like on gc pso are -broadband AND dialup compatible -has the newest/most online content -can play with people in other countries -less hacks Those are my key reasons. |

Ahhh... thanks folks. I had an idea that there was a whole slew of good reasons to prefer PSO on the cube, but I just wasn't in the loop.
I think the hacking thing alone would probably make me go GCN (if I do decide to take the plunge). Then there's the rest of it. I mean, I understand that this is a GameCube board so people might be a little biased, but I think I can trust you folks at least this far. If it happens, it'll be on GCN. Thanks again. |

Holy crap! I had no idea the Xbox version had so many flaws. I knew there were a lot more hackers on the xbox version though. Hackers suck and most of them are little wimpy losers who dont have the testicular fortitude to actually play the game how it's supposed to instead of using cheats as a crutch. | |||

Xbox PSO...I was hoping I wouldnt have to bring this particualar time of my PSO experiance up again.
I tried it, yeah. It sucked. Worst PSO experience I ever had. Everytime I would log on I couldnt EVER find players. Seriously, the only people on it were losers who liked to yell into the mic. They also argued over STUPID POINTLESS things just for attention. For example: what is the hardest language to learn. Seriously, why yell and cuss at each other over something so stupid? Then you had no regional play. Since it didnt connect to the JP servers, there were never any Cmode games. US people just dont play cmode... Same goes for Battle games, but in that case NO ONE at all plays it
Then you have lack of updates. Gee, lets charge you $8.95 per month and have HEAT SWORD AND GALLONS SHOP! Seriously, I played back in July, when GC had many quests like East Tower, and others, when PSOX had...Heat Sword? I know its better now, but it still sucks. All in all, get PSO GC...if you have an AR or Freeloader and/or a modded GC the JP version (cheaper HL that way  ) If not, your better off with US PSOGC then the Xbox version... |

And second, if they type english well, it's assumed they can speak english well. Just because you can't hear someone doesn't mean they don't speak.. If I have friends, PSOX is the way to go? Not if they have PSOGC. And especially not if they don't have an Xbox. |

bro bottom line all im saying is if you have (real life) friends and all have xbox they should go out and get the xbox version....lets face it ...i have a gc but barely annyone else cares for it......so i would enjoy playing on x with my friends instead of using kb on gc....its much more user friendly......and i understand people fascination to travel to jp servers but i really doeant make a great differrence.....im not saying gc version sucks but x is superior in certain areas | |||
