Major update:
Everything is back to 100%, you can now do what you could do before, no need to panic Right now for PSO and possibly some other things you cannot renew, create or cancell a Hunter's License for Phantasy Star Online Episode 1, 2 and 3. The problen is in Sega's own server, it's been down for almost a week now. People all over are having the same problems, I have even heard rumors that people with active HLs are being cancelled for no reason. That is JUST a rumor, I have NOT verified it yet. I will try to get more information on this while my HL is down. Just to recap, if you are getting this error: "Unknown error processing request. Please try again later." it is NOT your browser or your credit card. It is Sega's problem right now and there is nothing we can do about it. New news on the subject, a source of mine has gotten a message with this in it: [quote]{Update of Current License of Hunter} Players with unlimited License of Hunter will have account restored for game play on March <water> 27. Check current License of Hunter for new licensing number unlimited entry. [/quot] This kind of says that the problem will be fixed on March 27, 13 days from now. My sourse has also told me that they are installing a new system for Hunter's Licenses, which is the reason for the delay. While I am pissed about this at least they have given us something. See ya'll on the 27th... Also, a VERY new and VERY strange rumor has sprung forth. From the line "...unlimited License of Hunter..." people are saying that HLs will be free from then. A couple people I know are now looking into this. Personally a free HL seems like bad news. It means less updates and it also points to the servers going down... Personally, I would love this, I wanna get back into PSO, but I don't want to pay for it. On the flip side, there may be many negative things that could happen if they do, indeed, make the HLs free... Hm... |

As long as we played it conservative around the hackers, then I think we'd be fine. -Mytho |

When you two put it that way it sounds very nice, since it would attract more players like yourselves.
But most of that info are just rumors. I'll tell you all if any of it becomes confirmed |

Uhh, Free HL. Thats horrible.
I have been playing PSO and enjoying all the new updates and quests that come along every 2-3 weeks. It is well worth the 8.95 a month for me. When each new quest comes up I get excited because then we can all hop online and play through new things or work together to get a new item. My experience online since I registered in summer of 2003 has been nothing but awsome. Sonic Team has done a great job and they never missed a beat. I really hope sonic team keeps the $8.95 a month service fee. |

now im not the most die hard PSO fan in the world, so i don't know how this is going to come off to yall. but plz understand i don't want to fight i got into PSO ep. 1 & 2 about 2 years ago, like hard core. but i stoped because of a couple of reasons: 1) dupers corrupted my game with wack trades 2) the cost was getting to be to much for some1 like me w/o a job 3) and SEGA wasn't doing anything new (quest wise or about hackers). and about that last one, the quests... if u think about it, we're paying 50 for the game and 8.95 every month for the same quest that were on the dreamcast. we have only about 5 or 6 GCN unique quests, and they never change. sure, every christmas and valentines day u can expect a change in decorations, but its the same every year. SEGA could use the money from the game to put all the "holiday quests" on a artificial system that would automatically post them and take them down so that we don't have to pay for online use. also, i don't like paying for online use because they have done little to limit the hacking scene. i now hear that they (hackers) have been able to copy PSO and play online. and all SEGA has done is institute a form for ppl to fill out to launch an investigation, but even thats for abuse (verbal and physical). look at Blizzard... for years, Blizzard had free internet access threw there servers (BNet) and they still provided loads of patches and did more about cheeting then SEGA... the best part about Blizzard, they were FREE. now with all that being said, i would like to play PSO online, espically because i now have ep. 3. but i will not pay if SEGA isn't going to offer me anything new for all its gamers... in my eyes, theres no insentive, or point. you all may disagree, but thats just they way i see it for now. but on the flip side, i will gladly buy PSO+ and play online if its free... and just think how many other ppl would do just as i would. its one way to look at it and its still money for SEGA. |

well, I would like if it dropped in price, the HL that is. I rather have it $5 a month, much more affordable.

Still, you have to realize: $8.95 is insanely CHEAP! FFXI runs at $12.95 ish a month plus $1 for every additional character. WoW runs around roughly $15 a month. So, $8.95 is really nice as it is.

but what are you paying for? actually deleting cd keys of dupers and hackers... no. brand new quests that are new and revolutionary.. no. ur paying 8.95 a month for a form to have sega look into dupers. thats it.
and while i don't know much about FFXI, i can say for WoW that the 14.95 is well worth it. since december, when i started playing, i have downloaded 3 or 4 major patches and blizzard has taken a major stance agenst cheating of all kinds, including the use of 3rd party programs to enhance gameplay. so i can see paying 14.95 a month for that kind of service and work put in by blizzard... but not for PSO... im not getting anything but dreamcast quests (which in my opinion are dull and repetive, not to mention pointless) |

Keep the topic on track, it's discussion on Sega's server troubles, not which is game is better.
Just to point out some facts: -FFXI requires you to BUY a seperate CD to actually get any new content, any content that is downloadable is during a holiday event, which PSO has too -FFXI has WAY more servers than PSO, of course they're going to cost more. Plus they have people making expansions -There are indeed more than enough episode 2 quests, 4 Phantasmal World Quests, 5 new episode 2 challenge mode stages, Max Attack 2, Respective Tomorrow, etc. etc. Let's remember what we're talking about k? |

Sega having registration server issues. Read more for info. That is what the topic is about, every server is going to have trouble one day and Sega took care if it quite quickly and handled it quite well. Anyways it is back up and their is really no need to press any further |

As for FFXI, people who didn't by Chains of Promathia (sp?) got some extra stuff, just so they wouldn't be out of sync or whatever. CoP is actually the second expansion, and the only one you actually need to buy. The first one (I forget what it's called) came free with FFXI for North American players. But yea, FFXI costs more because it has way more stuff than PSO... But for what it's worth, PSO has that whole fun factor that doesn't require the whole dedicated server/more servers/expansive updates/etc. stuff. |
